About Finland and Helsinki

Welcome to the Helsinki Chemicals Forum

Jussi PajunenHelsinki is a modern, European cultural metropolis where a cosmopolitan lifestyle exists in harmony with nature. Surrounded by the sea and its unique archipelago, Helsinki offers visitors a unique setting.

Our city is very proud to host the second Helsinki Chemicals Forum. We have broad and long experience of hosting international conferences. In international surveys Helsinki has been ranked as one of the major conference cities in the world. The city has a high standard of congress and accommodation facilities, world class cuisine, excellent public transportation and an abundance of cultural events.

Sustainable economical, social and environmental development is high on the agenda for Finland and the City of Helsinki. The decision of the European Union to establish the European Chemicals Agency in Helsinki is an important step in profiling the city as the global capital of chemical safety. Thus, we feel that Helsinki is the natural place to launch a global dialogue between the various actors related to the chemicals sector – a dialogue that seeks new approaches to the challenges facing people and the environment.

The City of Helsinki, the University of Helsinki, the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre and the Chemical Industry Federation of Finland are giving their support and are strongly committed to the successful organisation of the Helsinki Chemicals Forum.

Together we welcome participants from all over the world.

Jussi Pajunen
Mayor of Helsinki
